So who
said there’s nothing new under the sun?
On the back cover of this
month’s guide is your new temporary WTVP Membership
card. Please clip it out and put it in your wallet,
because it indicates that you are a proud supporter of
Public Television in Central Illinois, and it can also
save you money.
So many of you wrote,
called, and emailed me following the premiere of our
“Unearthed: Garden Stories” program and asked if the
gardens were open for touring. In response, we
have arranged with the Master Gardeners Club of Peoria
to host a self-guided tour of all the gardens featured
in the program on Saturday, June 9. Details are
available elsewhere in this month’s WTVP Program Guide
and here on our
website. Cost of the tour will be $10 in advance and
$15 the same day, but by presenting your WTVP membership
card, you will receive a $5 discount. This is the first
of several events in the works that will allow discounts
for WTVP members. Other events in the planning stages
include a series of four live jazz events in July
featuring Ed Kaizer and friends, and “WTVP Touch a
Truck” in September.
This event will allow kids
and kids-at-heart to get a close-up and personal view of
the behemoths of the highway that carry on the work, and
play, of the country.
Watch for these and other
opportunities to use your new WTVP member card. It’s
another benefit of supporting your public television
station in Central Illinois.
