In a world of instant feedback, instant communications, and instant gratification, we are in such a hurry to do so many important things that we fail to stop and smell the bread. In early November, a friend of WTVP, Father Dominic Garramone (rhymes with macaroni, he says), taught us the importance of doing so. He turned our studio into his personal Christmas bakery, and in the process, gave us the tremendous gifts of peace, joy and a feeling of well-being.
You can see from the picture on the cover that he got me and several of our staff members involved in the hands-on creation of some terrific taste treats like eggnog pancakes, stollen and kruszczyki. While the eating was good, it was the opportunity to create the dough from scratch, to knead and roll and shape and form, and ultimately to break bread with those around us.
I invite you to tune in to our December membership drive to see Fr. Dom demonstrating a few of his favorite recipes, and I hope you will take the time to try them with those closest to you. It will make for a very special time.
Just as Fr. Dom left us with those special gifts for the holidays, so too do we wish them for you: peace, joy and well-being.
