Notes from the President and CE0 - October 2009

Memberships from people like you are the lifeblood of this and every other Public Television station in the country. Without the generous and consistent support of members like you, we would cease to exist. Thank you.

But in order to continuously serve you with the best programming and quality possible, we continuously look to develop additional sources of revenue like underwriting and events. One new fundraising activity that we have developed over the last several years is WTVP Travels. WTVP sponsors tours to various places of interest that relate to programming and that seem to have general appeal, and we receive a commission on the cost of the trips.

In the past, WTVP Travels groups have gone to venues such as Italy, Germany, China, France, Switzerland and Greece. This fall features a trip to Egypt and Jordan, and we have just announced next summerís tour: a riverboat cruise from St. Petersburg to Moscow along three of Russiaís most famous rivers. That tour will include the Hermitage museum, the summer palace of the czars, cultural performances, the Kremlin and much, much more.

WTVP Travels tours are led by Norma Joseph, a longtime friend of the station and a professional well-experienced in leading group travels. She has a reputation for being quite a mother hen and looking after the comfort and enjoyment of the travelers in her charge.

If you are looking for a unique way of supporting your Public Television station and having a great time along the way, I sincerely hope you will take a look at WTVP Travels, and especially the upcoming riverboat cruise in Russia. For information on dates and prices and to receive a copy of the descriptive brochure, just call us at (309) 677-4747 or [click here].

Whether you are an armchair traveler and visit places vicariously on WTVP, or if you join us in person on one of our trips, thank you for your support. We donít exist without you.
