Well the cat's out of the bag. Doc Martin and Louisa finally got hitched and had a Stephen King-like honeymoon. Thanks to all of you who sent in your pledges specifically to renew Doc Martin on WTVP. I strongly suspect you were not disappointed by the premiere of Season Six, and that your funny bone got a herculean workout. If you aren't acquainted with the surly sawbones from Port Wenn, I invite you to tune in starting at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, when we start the series encore beginning with Season 1 when all the cast members were younger but the humor no less bitingly British.

Thank you, too, for supporting your public television station with your bids during the WTVP Auction. This venerable fundraiser has been captivating viewers for 41 years and it pre-dates all the various shopping channels and on-line bidding sites. A special thanks and a tip of the auction chapeau to all our wonderful volunteers and donors without whom there would be no Auction. Visit us online at www.wtvp.org for results. Hopefully you were the high bidder on several items. If not, please patronize our donors and let them know how much you appreciate their support of your public TV station.

As time marches on, you may find yourself no longer the target of advertisers on commercial broadcast stations. The lifestyles they promote are no longer the lifestyles you live, or care to live. Where can you go for useful information and ideas that fit your needs? Let me suggest that you log on to www.wtvp.org and then click on the Next Avenue logo. You will find information and articles specifically tailored to you and your interests. Best of all, it's free.

Finally, a very happy Mother's Day from the staff and Board of Directors of WTVP.
