WTVP to Feature Musical Specials During September
Tuesday, August 17th, 2008
WTVP will feature a wide variety of new musical specials – plus the five-hour
American Masters series “You Must Remember This—The Warner Bros. Story”
– during September.
Rain: The Beatles Experience, a new special featuring a quartet of musicians who look and sound just like The Beatles, covers the Fab Four from the earliest beginnings through the psychedelic late ‘60s and their hard-rocking rooftop days — Sunday, Sept. 7 from 7:30-9 p.m. and again from 9-10:30 p.m.
Andre Rieu: Live in Vienna, a journey back to the romantic Vienna of the 19th century, features world-famous waltzes and melodies by the internationally renowned violinist, joined by the Johann Strauss Orchestra and Choir, the Ballet of Vienna State Opera, and other stars — Monday, Sept. 8 from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 14 from 9-11 p.m.
That’s Amore: Italian-American Favorites brings together archival performances with America’s most loved Italian-American singers and classic pop songs from the 1950s and ‘60s — Tuesday, Sept. 9 from 7-8:30 p.m.
Celtic Thunder celebrates Celtic heritage with powerful ballads, popular hits, and heartwarming songs — Thursday, Sept. 11 from 9-11 p.m.
The 60s Live!—My Generation, My Music, an exciting celebration of the 1960s to be broadcast live from San Francisco, will feature new performances, interviews with artists, and expanded clips from two of your favorite musical programs, My Music: The 60s Experience and My Music: The British Beat — Saturday, Sept. 13 from 7-10 p.m.
Great Performances: Pavarotti: A Life in Seven Arias, a celebration of Luciano Pavarotti’s vocal talent and extraordinary international impact, looks back over his legendary career, from his humble origins in Modena, Italy, to his London debut in La Boheme, his triumph in La fille du regiment, and his iconic rendition of “Nessun Dorma” — Sunday, Sept. 14 from 2:30-4:30 p.m.
In addition, WTVP will also feature encores of favorite shows from the past few years including
Lawrence Welk’s TV Treasures on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m., followed by
The High Kings at 9 p.m. and Elvis Lives: The 25th Anniversary Concert
at 10:30 p.m. My Music: My Generation—The 60s will encore on Monday, Sept, 8 from 9-11 p.m.,
Pioneers of Television—Sitcoms/Variety on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 8:30-10 p.m.; and
The Statler Brothers Farewell Concert on Sunday, Sept. 14 from 7:30-9 p.m.
Later in the month, WTVP will feature “You Must Remember This—The Warner Bros. Story,” a five-hour series from American Masters. Narrated by Clint Eastwood, the series chronicles the legacy of Warner Bros. and—with limitless access to movie clips and rare archival interviews—examines the history of 20th-century America on the big screen. “You Must Remember This” will air over three evenings—Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 23 and 24 from 8-10 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 25 9-10 p.m.
