FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Website Launched for Illinois Adventure
Wednesday, October 8th, 2008
Illinois Adventure, the public television series that has traced the footsteps of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan, crisscrossed the state in search of the best historical, natural and popular destinations, and successfully hunted for superheroes, cartoon characters and ghosts, has now jumped the ultimate border into cyberspace with the launch of a new website,
www.illinoisadventuretv.org.
This website, made possible by a generous grant from series underwriter Country Financial, features a rich archive of information from the television series, now in its 17th season. The site offers descriptions, maps and directions and links to further information about the featured sites, as well as streaming video from destinations showcased in the past six seasons. A great resource for travelers and educators, the site is easy to navigate with destinations grouped by region and by genre. As the site grows, viewers can look forward to new features such as a video blog from popular series host Jim Wilhelm.
Illinois Adventure can typically be seen Thursdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 4:00 p.m. on WTVP 47. The series is produced by WTVP Executive Producer William Baker. The website was created by WTVP IT Director Mark Lasswell. The Illinois Adventure website can also be accessed through the station’s main website,
www.wtvp.org.
WTVP 47 is a PBS member station serving all or
part of 22 counties throughout central Illinois.
