WTVP Welcomes Phil Zeni to Head Major Gifts Initiative

Peoria, IL ó WTVP 47, public television for Central Illinois, is pleased to welcome media veteran Phil Zeni to head the stationís renewed efforts in major gifts fundraising.
"Phil is going to be an asset to WTVP and to the Central Illinois community we serve," said Chet Tomczyk, WTVP President and CEO. "We are fortunate to have an experienced professional like Phil representing public television."
Mr. Zeni comes to WTVP as creator and president of Public Broadcasting Partners, his own company that sells underwriting on a commission basis for, locally, WTVP, WILL AM-FM-TV in Champaign/Urbana, and The Illinois Channel in Springfield. The firm has also served clients such as WCBU-FM in Peoria, and Salem Broadcasting in Phoenix, AZ.
Zeniís experience in this market stretches back several decades to his time as general manager of a commercial station in the Galesburg/Monmouth market, and publisher of a regional building trades magazine. He is also a member of the Peoria Ad Club and the Central Illinois Public Relations Association.†
A veteran broadcast consultant, manager and owner, Zeniís career includes service with both NBC and Westinghouse Broadcasting in Chicago, and Multimedia Broadcasting in Greenville SC.
He created, built, and, in 2003, sold a multi-million dollar publishing company based in Phoenix AZ.
Zeni attended Millikin University in his native Decatur, Illinois, and holds a BA in Business from the University of Illinois-Springfield. Now a widower, he and his late wife have two grown children who live out of state, and several family members who live in the Peoria area.
