WTVP Plans to End Analog Broadcast on February 17th

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

WTVP-Channel 47 in Peoria, IL, plans to terminate its analog broadcast service at 11:59 p.m. on February 17, 2009, prior to any extension that may be mandated by Congress.

Viewers can continue to receive high quality public television programming over the air at no cost by switching to digital channels 47.1 (WTVP HD), 47.2 (WTVP World), and 47.3 (WTVP Create). Viewers may also receive these signals through a cable or satellite service.

For viewers who do not have a television receiver capable of receiving a digital signal, digital-to-analog converters may be purchased at electronics stores and retailers throughout the area. Viewers who already have a converter box should hook it up immediately to begin receiving the improved pictures and services of digital broadcasting now.
