Illinois
Adventure
WTVP 47’s own Illinois Adventure
continues on Nov. 5 with visits to the Spurlock Museum on the
campus of the University of Illinois in Urbana for a glimpse of
the human journey through time and across continents and to the
Randolph County Museum and Archives in Chester.
On Nov. 12, the program visits the
Lewis and Clark State Historic Site, a re-creation of the Corps
of Discovery's first winter encampment and the starting point of
the historic westward expedition. They also visit the Weber
House and Garden in Streator and the Ulysses S. Grant Home State
Historic Site in Galena.
On Nov. 19, it’s on to DeKalb, the
"Barbed City," for a brand new Adventure. Jim Wilhelm tours the
buildings and history of the Ellwood mansion, the beautiful
Victorian home of Isaac Ellwood, one of the kings of barbed wire
fencing. The program also visits a home in Oakland whose owner
went to court for the freedom of slaves, the Antique Auto Museum
in Quincy, and the state’s largest Percheron horse farm.
Illinois Adventure, hosted by Jim
Wilhelm and produced by William Baker, generally airs on
Thursdays at 8 p.m. and is repeated the following Sundays at 4
p.m.
