Thanks for the Books!

Thank you to each and every one of the generous Peoria Barnes & Noble shoppers who purchased books for the Holiday Book Drive 2009. As of December 24, your donations to child literacy totaled more than 1,250 books worth $6,347 … with more still coming!

WTVP is grateful to be the recipient of your largess, and is currently distributing your books through our literacy outreach efforts to kids throughout Central Illinois who so desperately need them. Agencies we’ve worked with so far include:

• Common Place

• Skip-A-Long Child Development Services

• Boys and Girls Club

• Dream Catchers/Teen Parenting Program

• Franklin-Edison Primary School

We’ll publish final totals in next month’s Guide. But for now, on behalf of Barnes & Noble and all the kids, thank you again and—like so many of the donations said—"Happy Reading!"
