FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Joel, Connick & Foster

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

Great Performances serves up some musical madness this March with new concerts by megastars Billy Joel, Harry Connick Jr. and David Foster.

Shortly before the demolition of New York City’s Shea Stadium in July 2008, “Piano Man” Billy Joel and his band—along with special guests Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, John Mayer, and Sir Paul McCartney—served up two electrifying concerts of definitive and often transcendent versions of hits, rarities, and personal favorites. Billy Joel: Live at Shea Stadium airs Tuesday, March 8 at 9 p.m. on 47.1, encore Saturday, March 19 at 10 p.m. on 47.1

Twenty years after dazzling audiences in his first solo Broadway concert early in his career, three-time Grammy Award-winner Harry Connick, Jr. returned to the Main Stage in a roster of favorites, performed in his trademark New Orleans style. Variety raved, “Connick, in concert, packs such dynamite that those ‘Jersey Boys’ across the street seem positively sedate.” Harry Connick, Jr. in Concert on Broadway airs Thursday, March 10 at 7 p.m. on WTVP World 47.2.

Maestro to the stars David Foster returns in a celebration of the 15-time Grammy Award winner’s extensive musical career. This new concert features superstars Martina McBride, Natalie Cole, Earth, Wind & Fire, Michael Bolton, Robert Randolph and more, performing songs either written, produced or connected to Foster. Hitman Returns: David Foster & Friends airs Sunday, March 13 at 8 p.m. on 47.1 and again on Thursday, March 17 at 7 p.m. on WTVP World 47.2.
