AGATHA CHRISTIE’S POIROT Spend New Year’s Eve with One of Television’s Favorite Sleuths
Airs
New Year's Eve, Monday, December 31st at 9pm on WTVP-HD
Agatha Christie’s detective Hercule Poirot is one of popular culture’s most beloved investigators—a brilliant,
charismatic Belgian investigator renowned for using his “little grey cells” to solve the most baffling crimes in
England. The detective has been depicted onscreen by several of the world’s most famous actors—from Albert Finney
to Alfred Molina to Peter Ustinov—but it is David Suchet’s (The In-Laws, Executive Decision) landmark
portrayal in the long-running BBC series Poirot that remains one of the stand-out performances to
date.
WTVP offers viewers the chance to spend New Year’s Eve with Poirot and solve one more mystery in
2012, Monday, Dec. 31 from 9-10 p.m.on WTVP-HD. In “The Dead Man’s Mirror,” Poirot is keen on an
Art Deco mirror, but is outbid at auction by Gervase Chevenix who asks Poirot to find out if he is being
defrauded — offering him the mirror as a fee. Poirot travels down to Chevenix’s house, but, before he can begin
the fraud investigation, his client is found shot dead and his ‘fee’ shattered into a thousand pieces. A note
beside the body which reads simply “sorry” is Poirot’s only obvious piece of evidence.
