Illinois Adventure
Explore the Deere-Wiman House in Moline in a brand new Illinois Adventure premiering August 1st at 8:00pm. Built in 1872 by Charles Deere, son of John Deere, the house was designed by Chicago architect William LeBaron Jenny. Host Jim Wilhelm escorts viewers through the house and the history of its many renovations and intriguing additions while sharing stories of four generations of the Deere family. The program also visits the DeMoulin Museum in Greenville to try out its treasure trove of antique initiation devices used to great amusement in lodge ceremonies. Then it’s off to Franklin Grove to the headquarters of the Lincoln Highway Association to learn about the historic road markers that still exist in spite of federal attempts to make them obsolete. The show also goes to Decatur to see the Oglesby Mansion—home of Governor Richard J. Oglesby. Still undergoing careful restoration, the house is filled with unusual artifacts and interesting stories from Oglesby’s life as a U.S. Senator, Union General in the Civil War, three-term governor of Illinois, and close friend and colleague of Abraham Lincoln.

Illinois Adventure, hosted by Jim Wilhelm and produced by William Baker, generally airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m., repeating the following Sundays at 4 p.m. For additional information on past episodes, destination locations, contact information and directions, visit our Illinois Adventure website at www.illinoisadventuretv.org.
