Peoria, IL: The game is on as WTVP offers fans a free preview of the entire first
episode of Sherlock Season 3 – five nights in advance of the television
broadcast premiere. The preview event will be held Tuesday, January 14th in the WTVP Studio
starting at 7:00pm. The evening will include popcorn, door prizes and a post-screening fan
feedback session led by ICC professor Craig Shurtleff.
Sherlock stars Benedict Cumberbatch (The Fifth
Estate, Star Trek Into Darkness) as Sherlock Holmes, the world’s most famous
“consulting detective”, and Martin Freeman (The Hobbit, The Office UK) as his
too-trusting sidekick, Dr. John Watson. The series is a contemporary reinvention of Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle’s classic stories by creative team Steven Moffat (Doctor Who) and Mark Gatiss.
The writers, cast, and crew have been honored with a Peabody Award, a host of Primetime Emmy®
nominations, and many other accolades.
The eagerly anticipated Sherlock Season 3 picks up two
years after Sherlock’s apparent suicide at the promptings of megalomaniac Moriarity. There were
witnesses galore, but as depicted in the first episode, a Sherlock fan club called “The Empty
Hearse” has several theories on how their hero pulled off his miraculous return from the dead.
Sherlock Season 3 airs on MASTERPIECE MYSTERY! in three exhilarating
episodes on Sundays, January 19, 26, and February 2 at 8:58pm, following the broadcast of
Downton Abbey on WTVP-HD 47.1 (check local cable/satellite listings).
