McLean County 1% Sales Tax
A state law passed in 2007 allows counties to put a referendum on the ballot wherein a majority of voters can approve a sales tax increase of up to 1% for educational use. Schools in McLean County approved putting a referendum on the March 18th ballot calling for a 1% sales tax increase. If approved, the additional sales tax will raise about $16-million dollars annually for McLean County school districts. The money can only be used for facility improvement.
