American Experience "The Presidents"

This fall, American Experience  presents four more presidential profiles, offering an intimate and compelling look at the men who have defined and re-defined the modern presidency—and who led the country through some of the most turbulent and consequential moments in our history.

Reagan,” a two-part biography airing Monday, Sept. 22 from 8-10 p.m. and Monday, Sept. 29 from 8-10:30 p.m., examines the life and career of one of the most popular presidents of the 20th century—and one of the most controversial.

Jimmy Carter,” a three-hour special airing Monday, Oct. 6 from 8-11 p.m., traces the ascent of an ambitious country boy to the Oval Office, his dramatic fall from grace—and his remarkable resurrection as a humanitarian.

Nixon,” a three-hour portrait airing Monday, Oct. 13 from 8-11 p.m., tells the story of one of the most enigmatic modern political figures—a man whose fateful combination of strengths and weaknesses propelled him to the White House and then brought him down.

LBJ,” a two-part profile airing Mondays, Oct. 20 and 27 from 8-10 p.m., looks at a poor, rural Texan who became a congressman, senator, Vice President and President, only to see his unprecedented social agenda undermined by a war he supported and expanded but never understood.
