Walking Tour of Hadrian’s Wall

September 13th - 20th, 2013

Join WTVP Travels for a unique travel adventure: a Walking Tour of Hadrian’s Wall. Whether you’re extending your “Masterful Holiday” or joining us directly from Peoria, this is an active travel experience you don’t want to miss. Hadrian’s Wall stretches across the rugged beauty of the northern lands between what is now England and Scotland. It was built at the very edge of the Roman Empire in AD 122 to protect the Romans from “the Barbarians.” Follow in the footsteps of the Legionnaires as you depart from Carlisle and walk a 55 mile (88km) trail along the Wall. The tour visits the fascinating Roman forts of Chesters, Housesteads, Vindolanda and Birdoswald, as well as numerous other sites of interest and intrigue, such as Brunton Turret, built by the Twentieth Legion of Men. The tour ends at Heddon-on-the-Wall, where the longest section of complete wall lies at its full width to congratulate you for completing this stirring section of the Wall Path. On your journey, you can expect to encounter spectacular scenery and experience the wealth of history that lies upon the trail. Again, this is a walking tour.
