And the 2015 Winners Are...

A young girl triumphs over cancer treatments. A daring space adventurer finds an alien friend. Two witches use the power of books to battle for the hearts of children. And a girl’s magical hair keeps her on a colorful road to success.

These delightful, imaginative plotlines are just a few of the winning stories from WTVP-Public Media’s 2015 PBS KIDS Writers Contest.

WTVP is pleased to announce our local winners and honorable mentions. Click on the book cover to read each story.

2015 Honorable Mention Winners

The first-place stories have advanced on to the national competition where they are competing against winners from other PBS stations across the country for fabulous prizes including tablet computers and e-readers. National winners will be announced this summer.

Local winners and their families were treated to a party in the WTVP Studio where they received prizes including books, writing journals and a special t-shirt announcing them as a writing super hero. Every entrant received an official Certificate of Achievement.

WTVP congratulates all our entrants for their superb stories. And whether you enter with a class or on your own, be sure to watch next winter for another contest. We’re looking forward to reading your story!
