AN EMPHASIS ON EDUCATION
I grew up surrounded by educators. Not just my parents, but my aunts, my uncles, my god mother and my parents’ closest friends…all were teachers. As you can imagine, every potluck, family get together, holiday party and backyard cookout included lots of “teacher talk”. Conversations abounded about shoe-string budgets, the lack of resources, the lack of pay, the challenging moments that you want to forever forget and of course those incredible learning moments that you live for when a student fi nally fi gured it out, overcame a hurdle, mastered a concept and grew.
Teachers, you are the heroes in our communities. Soon you’ll reenter the daily grind of teaching multiplication tables, cursive writing, phonics lessons and beginning band. WTVP PBS is here to support the essential work you do with quality programs and learning resources for your classroom, your students, and the parents and families you support.
You probably already know that our WTVP Remote Channel and WTVP PBS Kids Channel offers 24/7 programming designed to help kids and students learn and grow. But did you know that WTVP and PBS have curated FREE, curriculum-aligned videos, interactives, lesson plans and more for Illinois teachers? This comprehensive online library lets teachers search by subject matter, grade level, and even share content directly to their Google classroom account. Best of all, it’s completely free at https://illinois/pbslearningmedia.org.
As you peruse the August Guide, you’ll note other special school themed programming this month that you won’t want to miss! Whether you tune in on your television, stream from the PBS App, or watch online, every day is a great day for learning and growing at WTVP PBS.
Thank you for your support!
Until next time
