Note from the President | November 2026

This year, WTVP is proud to bring back a time-honored program in our community, Local Legends. You might be surprised to learn that it can be quite challenging to convince an individual or couple to be recognized for this honor. As one honoree said, “I’m flattered, but I just don’t see why I should be recognized.”
My answer to this person was simple: “Our regional community is stronger because of who you are and what you have done. WTVP wants to share your story to inspire the next generation to follow your example and invest in this community as wholeheartedly as you have.”
Local Legends is about pausing to look back and recognize that we stand on the shoulders of those who have—over a lifetime of service, philanthropy and leadership—transformed our region for the better. Local Legends is about capturing stories of impact, sacrifice, vision and love for one’s community. Local Legends is about sharing stories that fill us up with hope for our future and reminding us that one person can make a difference in the lives of many.
This year, we are proud to share with you the stories of our 2026 Local Legends: Gerald M. Brookhart, Sister Judith Ann Duvall, Ronald A. Givens, Sr. and Kert Huber. This WTVP original production will be available on broadcast on Sunday, November 8 at 5:30 p.m. and on demand at wtvp.org/legends26. You can also read their profiles here.
I encourage you to join me in honoring these individuals by learning their stories and sharing them with others.
With gratitude,
Jenn
