Note from the President | September 2026

School is back in session! For me, this time of year is always filled with excitement for my children. I have a sixth grader, a second grader and (talk about a milestone) a kindergartener! As I watch my kids settle into their classrooms, I think about the people they will become by the end of this year—the new concepts they will master, the art projects they will create and stick to the fridge, the problems they will solve, the friendships they will forge and, my favorite, the books they will read.
It thrills me to watch my kids learn, connect and grow. I’m sure you feel the same way.
Instilling a love for lifelong learning is at the heart of what we do at WTVP. We provide on-ramps for every age—because learning at every age is crucial to health and wellness.
With fewer than half of all 3-4-year-olds enrolled in preschool, we are proud to provide a safe, dynamic and entertaining space that introduces children to the joy of learning, without commercial interruption, available 24/7 on broadcast and on demand, without cost.
Here is a number that will stick with you: last fiscal year, WTVP PBS KIDS content was streamed more than 5 million times across the 17 counties we serve! Incredible, right? This is content that sticks with kids, resonates with their parents and, most importantly, helps prepare them for that first day of kindergarten.
The next time you have the joy of seeing a young child practice their reading out loud or work on their times tables, know that as a WTVP member, you are part of that. As my 5-year-old loves to tell people, “I learned it on WTVP PBS KIDS.”
Thank you for your partnership!
Jenn
