34TH HISPANIC HERITAGE AWARDS

The historic program, which was created by the Reagan White House in 1988 to commemorate the establishment of Hispanic Heritage Month in America, is among the highest honors by Latinos for Latinos. It is supported by 40 national Hispanic-serving institutions and features top Latinx leaders being honored by top performers and personalities. The awards will feature more intimately filmed performances and honoree segments captured on location across the United States and Latin America.

LAND AND WATER REVISITED

Land and Water Revisited is an ambitious recreation of the anthropological classic Land and Water (1962). The documentary was filmed in Mexico’s Teotihuacán Valley and reframes many of the scenes in the original film to showcase environmental changes wrought by unchecked urban development and global climate change.

Decades earlier, Mama Icha moved to the United States to help her daughter with the care of her grandchildren. However, she never lost sight of her hometown of Mompox, spending years sending money to build her dream house there. Now, at the end of her life, Mama Icha boards a plane and flies back to Colombia where she bravely struggles with her loved ones.
