Our June Membership Drive is an opportunity for viewers to join WTVP as a member, renew their existing membership or become a sustaining member.  Support from viewers like you helps us provide programming, produce local content and plan events all year long. 

What is a Membership Drive?

  • A WTVP|PBS pledge drive is an on-air fundraising effort that helps raise necessary funds to produce PBS’s high-quality programming and content.
  • When you donate to your local PBS station, you prove that WTVP|PBS viewers have a unique relationship in deciding and appreciating WTVP's quality programming.
  • Regularly scheduled PBS programming is often interrupted for fundraising appeals, or for special pledge programming.

An all-star concert celebration is a once-in-a-lifetime music event recorded at Chicago’s famous Auditorium. The historic night brought some of the biggest names in music together to honor the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and American icon. Throughout an unparalleled career spanning more than six decades, Staples’ soulful songs of justice and equality have become a soundtrack for the civil rights movement and inspired countless other artists and activists.

In Livingston Taylor Live from Sellersville Theater: Songs And Stories, singer-songwriter Livingston Taylor performs a cross-section of songs from his 50-year career. Taped at Pennsylvania’s historic, 300-seat Sellersville Theater, the musician brings to life songs and stories from his early days, popular staples and recent recordings.

Boxcar People
THURSDAY JUNE, JUNE 10, 7 PM  

A WTVP production written and produced by Will and Luz Schick, Boxcar People tells the story of Mexican workers recruited in the early 1900s to work the railroads in Galesburg, Illinois. At a time when their own country was torn by a bloody civil war, American industry came to Mexico looking for workers to replace the men gone off to fight in WWI. To a culture centered on family, the railroads were particularly attractive to Mexicans displaced by chaos and war. The rail companies provided not just a job, but a place to raise a family. Each worker was offered home in the form of a boxcar.
