THE VIRGINIA PEANUT STORY

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 10 PM

The Virginia Peanut Story tells the rise and fall of the dominance of the Virginia/Carolina peanut industry. Aided by the railroad and returning Union soldiers after the Civil War, the peanut helped give rise to the golden age of agriculture. George Washington Carver and Amedeo Obici are both featured, as well as culinary historians Michael Twitty and Andrew Smith.

GREAT PERFORMANCES AT THE MET: ROMEO ET JULIETTE

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 8 PM

The electrifying team of Vittorio Grigolo and Diana Damrau reunites for a new production by Bartlett Sher of Gounod’s opera, based on the classic Shakespeare play. Damrau makes her role debut as Juliette, Grigolo sings Romeo and Elliot Madore sings Mercutio. Gianandrea Noseda conducts.

Fly Brother is a travel docu-series about friendship and connection around the world, featuring storyteller and explorer Ernest White II. In each half- hour episode, Ernest's real-life friends show him a city or region from their perspective.

Fly Brother is also available on WTVP-Create 47.4 on Mondays at 9:30 AM, 4:30 PM, and 9:30 PM. Create is about five episodes ahead.


ISLANDS OF WONDER

The three-part Islands of Wonder series takes viewers on a journey to the most exotic, mysterious and remote islands on planet Earth: Madagascar, Borneo and Hawaii.
