You Gotta See This Launches New Season

WTVP’s compelling local program, You Gotta See This!, returns with a new season, launching with a two-part special exploring the history, people and places of Route 66 in central Illinois.
As the Mother Road approaches its 100th anniversary, You Gotta See This! beautifully captures the pull of the open road and its impact on the communities that grew alongside it and the people who traveled it in search of something new. Stops include the Illinois Route 66 Hall of Fame and Museum in Pontiac, Lexington’s Route 66 Memory Lane, the McLean County Museum of History and the Illinois State Museum in Springfield.
“This Route 66 special is the perfect way to kick off the new season of You Gotta See This!,” says James Kerr, Chief Officer of Content and Digital Media. “Producer Amy Arhart combines nostalgia and new stories, putting local people and places front and center, revealing where they belong on the national stage.”
Now in its sixth season, You Gotta See This! has featured dozens of local sites, businesses and people following their passions. “There’s nothing that spotlights the best of central Illinois like You Gotta See This!,” says Jenn Gordon, WTVP’s President and CEO. “It unveils our community’s hidden gems and calls us to experience them for ourselves.”
Part one of “Route 66: One Hundred Years on the Mother Road” premieres on Saturday, September 19 at 8 p.m. on WTVP with part two airing on Saturday, October 3. But you can watch the full 45-minute special now on video.wtvp.org and the PBS app. All episodes of previous seasons are also available for viewing.
