Lisa Martin | Peoria, Illinois
Chief Financial Officer, Midwest Food Bank

Lisa Martin uses her strengths in leadership and accounting to make an impact on the world from right here in central Illinois. Martin is the Chief Financial Officer for Midwest Food Bank where she is responsible for managing and leading the financial initiatives of the organization. Through her oversight, the organization stewards donor dollars to fulfill the mission of sharing the love of Christ and alleviating hunger and malnutrition.

Lisa also oversees the operations of the Morton division which serves as Midwest Food Bank's headquarters for disaster relief services and the production of Tender Mercies, a rice and bean protein meal. Martin counts it a privilege to work at a nonprofit organization and is very passionate about feeding those who are in need, “Whether that is physical need of providing food or disaster relief aid or a need for purpose and service that our volunteers are able to fulfill every day while volunteering at Midwest Food Bank.”
Jada Hoerr, a colleague at Midwest Food Bank, writes, “Lisa is a leader with exceptional integrity, maturity, and impact. Her calm, pleasant approach marks Lisa’s leadership. She is never rattled and approaches challenges with a maturity well beyond her years.”
Prior to Midwest Food Bank, Lisa served as a licensed CPA for nine years as an audit manager where she oversaw and managed an array of clients in the construction, manufacturing and nonprofit industries. Lisa defines a great leader as “someone who is humble and kind. They see the needs and potentials of the people around them and motivate them in accomplishing a greater vision or goal together.”
Words of Wisdom:
“Lean into opportunities and be willing to figure out a path forward rather than be stifled by the unknown. Always be willing to ask for help and perspective from others.”

Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and experiencing the great outdoors. Lisa is passionate about cultivating community in her personal and professional life with a desire to help others be the best they can be. Lisa has served on several boards and committees such as Peoria Midwest Food Bank Advisory Board, Illinois State University Accounting Advisory Board, and fulfills her childhood ambitions to be a counselor and teacher by serving on the Apostolic Christian High School Girls Camp Leadership Committee and as a Sunday School teacher at her church.
The Warmth of the Midwest:
“I love the hospitality and warmth of the Midwest and that you get to experience all four seasons.”
