Jaleesha Allen | Peoria, IL
Administrative Aide | University of Illinois Chicago - Division of Specialized Care for Children

Supporting children and families connects the many pieces of Jaleesha Allen’s life. As an Administrative Aide with the University of Illinois Chicago Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC) in Peoria, she serves as a key member of the statewide leadership team, strengthening outcomes for thousands of children and families navigating complex care needs.
Beyond her professional role, Jaleesha is the Founder of Real Queens of Impact (formerly Real Queens of Peoria), a community initiative dedicated to empowering underrepresented students, families and mothers. She has visited every school in District 150, reaching over 2,000 students and inspiring the next generation of changemakers.
Jaleesha’s commitment to service includes active involvement with organizations such as the Ronald McDonald House, Peoria Friendship House and Goodwill Industries. She is an accomplished speaker and facilitator and has played key roles in organizing community fundraising and cultural events. Amber Kaylor of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois observes, “She blends academic expertise with lived experience to bridge systems and strengthen communities.”

As a child, Jaleesha was interested in the hospitality industry. “I was drawn to environments centered on service, experience and making people feel welcomed and valued...Although my career has evolved into public service and community leadership, hospitality remains at the heart of what I do.”
“Traveling, learning and self-discovery are not detours from success, they are essential parts of it.”

Her earliest and greatest influence was her mother, Ameena Muhammad. “She has been a constant example of strength, resilience and determination throughout my entire life. As a hardworking mother who raised me and my four sisters, she showed us what it means to persevere no matter the circumstances.”
Now a mother herself, Jaleesha says that “Family is at the center of everything I do.” She is married to her college sweetheart, Peoria City Councilman Dr. Andre W. Allen, and together they are raising their three children, Barbie (11), Dreyton (7) and Dream (5). The Allen family embraces all that central Illinois has to offer. “For me, great food and good company make the perfect hangout, and central Illinois has some wonderful places that do just that.”
