There is a new virus spreading and causing illness to individuals in many countries. It is a coronavirus called COVID-19. Our local health departments and officials have been hard at work with our community partners, healthcare facilities, and first responders to plan and prepare for the potential spread of COVID-19 to our area.
This coronavirus disease causes mild to severe illness with symptoms similar to the flu and other respiratory illnesses. Some symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, cough, and shortness of breath. In most cases, with a mild illness, people are cautioned to stay home and rest – with fever-reducing medications and plenty of water.
Remember, the best protection from getting and spreading COVID-19 or any respiratory illness is to follow basic hygiene with the 3Cs: Clean your hands, Cover your cough, and Contain your germs by staying home if you are ill.
