Pekin Friends of 47 Bowl-A-Thon Raises $5,000+

The Pekin Friends of 47’s annual Bowl-A-Thon on March 7, 2020, raised $5,337 to support quality programming on WTVP. A total of 47 bowlers participated, with 22 bowlers and two non-bowlers collecting $47 or more in pledges.

A total of three games were bowled, with recognition for the high score in each game, plus other special games:

  • Female with a score higher than the lowest female score: Chelsea Ballard (78)
  • Male with a score 7th lower than the highest male score: Nick Bertolini (140)

Game 2

  • High Score: Steve Baker (180) and Angie Wherley (201)
  • Female with a score 7th lower than the highest female score: Jane Warrick (150)
  • Male with a score 4th higher than the lowest male score: Joe Salzar (98)

Game 3

  • High Score: Dan Fielner (223) and Stacia Heine (182)
  • Bowler with the final score closest to, without going over 47: Chelsea Ballard (47)
  • Bowler with the final score closest to, without going over 147: Don Stedman (144)
  • Bowler with the final score closest to, without going over 247: Don Fielner (223)

The Friends of 47 consists of volunteers that are committed to keeping quality, free television programs available for the children and adults in this viewing area. The friends are proud of the children’s programs available 24/7 and the locally produced programs that touch on local events and issues that are important to our community in Central Illinois.

The Pekin Friends of 47’s mission is to promote Public Television through fundraising and volunteer activities. The friends accomplished this by hosting an annual Bowl-A-Thon and volunteering time to the station for various events.

All money raised is donated to the station to support children’s on-air programming, educational and outreach services, including WTVP’s Writer’s Contest.
