About Pekin Friends of 47
The Friends of 47 consists of volunteers that are committed to keeping quality, free television programs available for the children and adults in this viewing area. The friends are proud of the children’s programs available 24/7 and the locally produced programs that touch on local events and issues that are important to our community in Central Illinois.
The Pekin Friends of 47’s mission is to promote Public Television through fundraising and volunteer activities. The friends accomplished this by hosting an annual Bowl-A-Thon and volunteering time to the station for various events.
All money raised is donated to the station to support children’s on-air programming, educational and outreach services, including WTVP’s Writer’s Contest.
About WTVP
WTVP’s mission is to enrich our community in engaging and relevant ways using public media and outreach efforts. The station is an essential source for education, scientific, entertainment, and cultural content that connects Central Illinois on a local and world level. Generous membership donations and business underwriting are what make this mission and vision possible. An investment in WTVP is an investment in our community.
