Veteran news reporter and anchor Mark Welp gathers the stories and produces a rundown of what’s going on in government, business, education, agriculture, the arts, entertainment and more. About the Host

Mark Welp is a veteran central Illinois news anchor and senior content producer for WTVP PBS and Peoria Magazine. He has more than 25 years in television journalism, covering the Peoria area, St. Louis and other central Illinois communities. Since 2006, Mark has worked with the TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter in Pekin to increase animal adoptions. More than 3,800 cats and dogs have been featured in his weekly TV segment. Mark’s Furry Friends continues that laudable tradition on WTVP.
